Palm On OS X

by , 7:00 AM EST, March 26th, 2002

Palm, makers of the world's most popular PDAs and PDA OS, released its latest version of the Palm Desktop software yesterday (Mar. 25). The new version, 4.0, provides OS X support for Palm and Palm-compatible PDAs. This from Palm:

Palm Desktop software -- which gives customers a way to easily add, edit and create Palm handheld information on their desktops -- is immediately available for free download (English version) at http://www.palm.com/macintosh. Palm Desktop 4.0 for Mac includes support for improved synchronization, native Mac OS X support, vCard and vCal, multiple languages, improved privacy, multiple connection types and Mac OS 9 compatibility.

Palm notes that versions of the new Palm Desktop will be available for other languages in early Spring. You can find more information on Palm's X software at the company's Web site.

The Mac Observer Spin:

This is great news for all of you OS X using folks whose PDAs are a grey matter extension. The PalmDesktop for OS X Beta has been around for a while, but this is the real deal, and it includes some improvements. Sounds like an upgrade is in order, and it's free!
