Ben Software has released an update for BTV, bringing it to version 5.4.1. BTV is a video capture app that is designed for video production and animation. The update features performance enhancements including a de-interlacer filter and other functions. According to Ben Software:

Ben Bird announced today that version 5.4.1 of his popular Macintosh video software BTV has been released.

BTV is an application for the Macintosh that allows you to easily view and capture video. It works with any Macintosh compatible video input source such as video input cards, TV cards, built-in video, USB, DV, and FireWire video sources.

In addition to a Classic version that runs on Mac OS 8 and later, BTV has been fully Carbonized to run natively under Mac OS X. It is available in English and German.

The improvements of BTV 5.4.1 over the previous version are:

  • New option to use more processor time for smoother video playback
  • Automatically sets a connected DV converter device to DV-out mode on launch
  • New option to set a fixed size for frame captures
  • Deinterlace filter for captured and exported images
  • Fixed problems with video settings not being remembered
  • New AppleScript commands to set the video and sound settings
  • Minor bug fixes

You can find more information about the BTV update at the Ben Software Web site. BTV 5.4.1 is available for US$20.00.
