Mireth Tech Updates ShredIt X With CDRW Shredding

by , 6:00 PM EDT, July 30th, 2004

Mireth Technology has released an update for ShredIt X, bringing it to version 5.5. ShredIt X is an electronic document shredder designed for secure file deletion. The update features CDRW shredding support. According to Mireth Technology:

Mireth Technology has released version 5.2 of ShredIt X.

A privacy utility, ShredIt X is the electronic document shredder for Macintosh OS X computers that securely deletes files, folders and disk free space. Throwing a file in the trash does not remove the file contents from the hard disk - it just removes the file name from the directory, leaving the data intact and vulnerable.

With this new version, ShredIt X now shreds CDRWs in addition to shredding files, folders, disk free space, hard drives and external hard drives

You can find more information about the ShredIt X update at the Mireth Technology Web site. ShredIt X 5.5 is free for registered users, while the full version is available for US$19.95.

Subject: $20 for what?

Secure empty Trash (Finders limited GUI to srm), arm itself and bcwipe (oh no you have to install it :-0) cover everything except CDRW wiping and I'm sure there is something available for that as well.

Subject: CD-RW...big deal

So far, of the 10 CD-RW I've tried to burn more than once, only one worked. Who needs to shred what is worthless when erased?

I've given up on CD-RW.
