Eat Skittles, Win Star Wars-themed iPods

by , 6:00 AM EST, February 28th, 2005

As part of the promotional run-up to the debut of Star Wars Episode III, Skittles will kick off a "Hunt fro Grievous" online game April 2 with 110,600 prizes to be awarded.

More interesting than the 100,000 Star Wars screensaver downloads Skittles plans to give away is the grand prize: 100 Star Wars-themed iPods. There's no image of this limited edition iPod either on the Skittles Web site or the game ticket, however.

Five hundred first prizes--a $25 gift certificated to starwarsshop.com--will also be awarded, as well as 10,000 second prizes consisting of iTunes gift certificates--presumably for less than $25--will also be given away.

Kudos to Engadget and Rebelscum.com for the tips.

obviously, Apple's white ibooks, iMacs and iPods are accessories of the good side of the force, while dells and the wintel clones represent the dark side.

So Apple has lined up with makers of sugar water and candy to give away music - they need to line up big tobacco and Budweiser next to get some serious penetration.

On bad spelling / grammer etc.

This isn't exactly the Times Literary Supplement now is it?

Are we all so arrogant to believe that none of *ever* makes a typo?

(Not having a rant - just asking for some common decency)

Are we all so arrogant to believe that none of us ever makes a typo? I am arrogant.

(Not having a rant - just asking for some common decency, and also lying about my true motive of this post, which is one of arrogancy. Excuse me while I sit in the corner and plot the end of the world.)

OK, so you're arrogant. Well done - have a cigar.

The point of my post was that I want to read comments and arguments on the article, not read witterings from some luser commenting on whether the grammar / spelling is perfect.

I just get a bit bored reading posts from users moaning about other peoples typos. Can't we just give it a rest for a bit?

Even RC is more fun than that

Good idea. Nothing says iPod quite like cancer and alcoholism.

Seriously though, I think you're on the right track with penetration. THAT sells.

I found the Star Wars/iPod game piece bags of Skittles in Wal-Mart yesterday. The website won't let you enter the codes until April 1.
