particleIllusion 3.0 for Mac OS X Offers More Particle Effects
by , 5:30 PM EDT, July 26th, 2005
Wondertouch announced Monday particleIllusion 3.0 for Mac OS X, a release that brings the software to compatibility with the Windows version of the product. particleIllusion is a standalone particle effects application designed to add particle affects to images, animations, and video footage. The new Mac version of the software includes new features, and improvements to the rendering engine.
New features of the software include:
- Super emitters: allows for the automatic creation of emitters, to achieve new levels of realism and creativity.
- Forces: allows for influencing particles after they are created; wind for example.
- Color options: including "get color from layer" allow users to simulate "displacement" and "painterly" effects in real-time.
- Dozens of interface and productivity improvements over particleIllusion SE.
"Although Mac users will immediately gravitate towards using particleIllusion for creating explosions, they may be surprised to learn that particleIllusion is useful for much more than 'blowing things up'!" Alan Lorence, president of wondertouch, quipped in a statement. "Many professional users also find particleIllusion an effective tool for creating fully animated backgrounds, wipes and other transitions, and countless other artistic motion graphics elements."
Whether for digitally blowing things up, or for some serious particle effects work, particleIllusion 3.0 is priced at US$349 until August 31st, 2005. After that, it will be priced at $399. Upgrades from particleIllusion SE for Mac are priced at $249 until August 31st, $299 thereafter.
Owners of particleIllusion 2.0 for OS 8/9 can upgrade to particleIllusion 3.0 for OS X for $49.
You can find more information on the software at the company's Web site.
