Microsoft's Ballmer: Vista Could be Delayed Again
by , 4:00 PM EDT, May 24th, 2006
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on Wednesday warned that Windows Vista's launch could slip from its current January 2007 target, which was pushed back from November 2006 by the company in March. According to an IDG article, the new delay could be "based on feedback from a beta release program and the product road-maps of hardware vendors." Microsoft released the second Beta of Vista yesterday.
Mr. Ballmer added: "The other thing, frankly, which we are discussing with NEC and other hardware partners is when would they really like it - early January, late January, February - so it depends on when the next roll-over, the next turn of the machine cycle will be and that would be the best time to ship it based on beta feedback."

Ok, it's now become painfully clear that Steve Jobs has invented some sort of mind control device that he has used to manipulate the minds of Microsoft executives for a couple of years now.
That's enough, Steve. It was funny at first but now it's gone on a little too long. Please Mr. Jobs, give the MS team its brains back and find something else to do with your spare time.
LOL

Microsoft, in an effort to save face, will probably release Vista a.s.a.p., documented bugs and all. Win95 could have been a great OS had MS kept working on all the 1000's of documented and unresolved bugs ... but no, they went ahead against the wishes of beta testers and released the product prematurely.
Someone could argue that OS X was also released prematurely ... but even so, it was far better, imo, than Win95 and all its successors ever were.
It'll be interesting to see if Vista keeps START to shutdown "feature".
Start to Shutdown....lol Microsoft at its finest! My girlfriend's aunt used a Mac most of her life until she got into Law -- now to this day she cannot understant the whole Start to Shutdown concept...crazy!

Yeah OK. "It's all set to go, seriously, but these hardware vendors would like it later, so we're going to delay it again because that's just the kind of team player we are."

Microsoft has NEVER cared about compliance.
Actually, that's not 100% fair. The asp.net group has been making efforts to greatly improve compliance with standards in the products their group touches. I'm not saying they are there yet, but they, of all the groups at MS, seem to understand the importance and seem to be trying to make progress in that area.
You couldn't prove that to me. ASP security is lackluster. I wouldn't buy anything from an ASP website even if you gave me your credit card.
