CatDV 5.0 Supports Editing Within the App, More

by , 4:55 PM EDT, May 30th, 2006

Square Box Systems Ltd. on Tuesday shipped CatDV 5.0, an update to its media asset database and professional video logging tool that enables editing directly within the software and offers the ability to catalog arbitrary types of files as project files, spreadsheets and text documents. The latter enables archiving of all supported files for a project.

Other changes include user interface improvements and the ability to import and export Final Cut Pro XML files, which allows seamless exchanging of clip logging information and sequences between CatDV's database and Final Cut Pro's browser window.

Upgrades to CatDV Professional Edition are US$99, with the fill version available for $275. A Standard Edition is also available; it costs less. As The Mac Observer posted this article, the Square Box Web site was down, preventing us from finding Standard Edition pricing and linking to a product page.
