by , 11:20 AM EDT, May 30th, 2006
Microsoft announced that it has developed the Wireless Laser Desktop, a wireless keyboard and mouse combination for the Mac, on Tuesday. The keyboard is curved and designed specifically for the Mac, includes programmable hot keys, zoom slider lever, and RF transceiver. The included Microsoft High Definition Laser mouse features multiple buttons and includes a magnification button. The Wireless Laser Desktop will be available this summer for US$99.95.

My wife has one from Walmart that runs her Shuttle PC and Mac Mini. It's version 2.0, I think. Got it for about $60. Newer versions are advertised to work PC/MAC, but some are not. I like her's because the mouse is symetrical, good for both of us who are righties but mouse left-handed. This new keyboard/mouse combo looks like rightie only. The action on these keyboards is good, the mouse tracks well, the buttons fall comfortably under the fingers. I especially like the wrist wrest and slightly ergonomic curve to the 'board. I was thinking about getting one last week, now I'll have to wait for this one!
