Quark Interactive Designer Released

by , 11:15 AM EDT, October 26th, 2006

Quark announced the immediate availability of Quark Interactive Designer (QID) on Thursday. QID is an add-on for QuarkXPress 7.02 that brings interactive multimedia project tools to your layouts. It supports video, audio and sound, and can be used to build presentations, Web site components, or full Web sites.

QID lets create navigation links, embed movies and audio files in your documents, build scripts end expressions from a palette-based interface, and recognizes HTML code created in the QuarkXPress Web Layout space. Projects export as SWF files, and are compatible with Flash-aware Web browsers and applications.

Quark Interactive Designer is priced at US$99 through April 1, 2007, and then increases to its regular price of $199. Qualified educational users can get QID for free.

Subject: And who thinks this is a good idea?

Frankly a single application for all types of projects is simply unrealistic. Corel failed at it...and so have others...so why does Quark think they'll do any better.

Subject: I do

I think this is a great idea. If the app is created right, it could mean a link to Flash projects from layout for those who need the hand holding.

Subject: they've done it before

Seems like the program they offered about 5 years ago, that I bought and then Quark dropped about six months after that.

Subject: Quark Immedia

It was called Quark Immedia (1998) and it was horrible.
