VMWare Releases Public Beta of "Fusion" for Mac OS X

VMWare announced a public beta of its virtualization software, codenamed Fusion, for Mac OS X on Thursday. VMWare has been supplying virtualization software for Windows for some time, and has now entered the Macintosh market. The product will compete with Parallels Desktop.

Fusion features include the ability to run both 32- and 64-bit OSes along side Mac OS X, access devices such as CDs, DVDs and USB ports. There is drag and drop support between the OSes.

The public beta is available at the VMWare Website.

Wouldn't it be great if VMWare's app worked with Parallels .hdd disk images? I'd be likely to try it out if that were the case.

The Beta actually became available on Dec 22.
