Adobe Announces Creative Suite 3 Production Premium

by , 7:40 AM EDT, March 27th, 2007

Adobe announced the new version of its video editing and post-production application suite, Creative Suite 3 Production Premium, on Tuesday. The suite includes a mix of Universal Binary and Intel-only applications, and also includes two Windows-only applications.

The Universal Binary applications in the suite include Adobe After Effects CS3 Professional, Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended, Adobe Illustrator CS3, Adobe Flash CS3 Professional, Adobe Device Central CS3, and Adobe Bridge CS3.

The Intel Mac-only applications include Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, Adobe Soundbooth CS3, Adobe Encore CS3, and Adobe Dynamic Link. The company lists Adobe OnLocation CS3 and Adobe Ultra CS3 as Windows-only, but states that OnLocation CS3 works with Boot Camp.

OnLocation is a new application that supports direct-to-disk recording and on-set monitoring. Ultra CS3 is a keying tool.

The suite requires at least a G4 processor for the Universal Binary applications. Other system requirements includes Mac OS X 10.4.9, at least 1GB of RAM for DV, and 2GB or more for HDV and HD editing, 1280x1024 monitor resolution, a 32 bit video card, QuickTime 7.1.5, and a DVD ROM drive for installation.

Adobe is slating the Creative Suite 3 Production Premium to ship in the third quarter of 2007 for US$1,699. Upgrade pricing starts at $799.

Yep, I'm definitely going to get that.

Adobe just answered 90% of my extensive wish list, and made it available for $1199 US (upgrade price from Flash MX2004 or Photoshop 7)
