Apple General Counsel Rosenberg Packs It In

by , 9:05 AM EDT, September 28th, 2007

Apple's general counsel Donald Rosenberg is packing up and calling it quits after only ten months on the job. Oracle's general counsel, Daniel Cooperman, will be stepping in to take over and fill the vacancy left by Mr. Rosenberg.

Mr. Rosenberg was hired by Apple as general counsel after a six month vacancy when his predecessor Nancy Heinen left amidst the company's stock option backdating scandal. Prior to working for Apple, he spent over 30 years at IBM where he eventually served as general counsel for that company, too.

Mr. Cooperman started at Oracle in 1997, and most recently served as the company's general counsel. He also is the chairman of the Software and Information Association which is the largest trade association in the software industry.

Mr. Cooperman will begin working at Apple on November 1. No reason for Mr. Rosenberg's departure was given.
