FileMaker Details Leopard Compatibility Issues
by , 9:35 AM EDT, October 26th, 2007
FileMaker has issued a special report detailing known issues with FileMaker Pro and Advanced 9 and Mac OS X 10.5. While both versions of the database applications will function when running on Leopard, there are issues the company plans to resolve with an update in November.
- Instant Web Publishing does not work with Leopard.
- Leopard's International Formats Region preference must be set to a specific language depending on which language you are using for FileMaker Pro.
- FileMaker Server 9 and FileMaker Server 9 Advanced do not deploy properly.
FileMaker plans to release a free update to address the FileMaker Pro and Advanced 9 issues on November 19, but a release date for the server product updates has not been announced. FileMaker has no plans to update older versions of its applications for Leopard compatibility.
Additional information about FileMaker Leopard compatibility and language settings requirements is available at the FileMaker Web site.
Observer Comments
it seems that without conscious FileMaker is abandoning the rest of us. Frankly, this precludes our office from upgrading to Leopard as our entire database is run on FM 8.5 and FM Server 8!
Shame on FileMaker, a subsidiary of Apple.
Please reconsider to actions and motives and provide us support.

Just how do you figure that? Have you actually tried FileMaker Pro 8.5 on Leopard? Notice that the article says that there are some issues, not that FileMaker Pro 9 doesn't work with Leopard.
Do you expect FileMaker (or other software companies) to continually update every version of their software, rather than just the latest? Perhaps FileMaker should issue updates for the copy of FileMaker Pro 3 I have, as well.
Of course, now that Leopard has been released, the copies of Tiger you use will stop working instantly, won't they? That's what you seem to be saying. If you need to use an application that doesn't work well with Leopard, then don't install Leopard.
