Monday's Mac Gadget
MacReporter 1.04 ($12 Shareware) Sure, there's a lot of great sources of news on the web. From world news to Mac happenings, you can find many sources of information, but to go through all of those web pages on a regular basis can take lots of time. If only there was a way to fetch headlines from multiple Web sites, and select only the stories you want to read in more detail... MacReporter provides OS X users with a nifty way to check out the maximum number of news sources, but take up a minimum amount of space. MacReporter goes in the Dock, and will let you know that there is something new by showing the number of new articles, making a sound, or both. Click on the icon and you'll be given a menu, the bottom portion listing your news sources, such as The Mac Observer. Clicking on the news source will show individual articles titles. Click on one to read it. Simple and elegant.
See Headlines and Read Articles on Your Favorite Sites If you have a small number of articles, you can display them all; unread articles will have a diamond next to them, read ones won't. Otherwise, you can save some screen real estate, and choose to only show unread articles. You can also set how often MacReporter will check for new articles, from 1 minute to 5 hours. As of this writing, MacReporter supports nearly 200 different news sources, so there's bound to be something for everyone. Have any other gadgets that help you know what's going on?
