Need to Quickly Sort Photos? You Need PhotoReviewer! |
PhotoReviewer 1.4 ($10 Trialware)
Stick Software
Sure, the iLife suite of software is some of the best out there when you need an integrated way of taking care of your photos, music and movies. iPhoto is a great photo management application, and is fast enough once you get your photos imported. Importing, however, is one area where iPhoto could use some improvement. If only there was an application especially designed to allow you to review a group of photos before you commit them to your photo program...
PhotoReviewer allows you to quickly go through your photos and movies, and to select the ones you want. PhotoReviewer is written using Apple's Cocoa framework and Objective-C, and uses the dcraw engine for image processing, so you know it's fast. Just start PhotoReviewer, point it at the folder which contains your photos and movies. You can also specify the folders to contain approved and vetoed content, and press the Start button.

You can use the handy icons on the top of the window to approve or veto content, or, if you're good with the keyboard, you can get even more speed and use keyboard shortcuts. You can also customize the icons. Approving or vetoing a photo will immediately place it in the folder you specified at startup. You can also put approved content in subfolders, ranging from 0 to 9. PhotoReviewer can display important information about the content, such as the name, size and, for movies, the length.
What happens in the background is what makes PhotoReviewer really shine. You may notice a spinning progress wheel while you're using the program. This is because it is loading image data in the background, to help it keep up with your approval process. You can specify the amount of memory used for this loading, but be careful so you don't run out. Although the program is mainly meant for photo approval and vetoing, you can use it to rotate your picture.
So start sorting through all those photos and movies you haven't dealt with yet, and try PhotoReviewer today!
